Eat to Live or Live to Eat
Sorry for such a clique-ish title but seriously, this needs to be addressed the upcoming Holiday season!
So the food banks are near empty in the Phoenix area, and with the “economic crisis” still large at hand I find it a prime opportunity to talk about overeating this Holiday season. This season let’s take the time to appreciate how someone somewhere in history decided to create serving sizes to help us control the amount of food we intake on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong, I love my family’s Thanksgiving home cooked meals, but when i think about families without this year, and the chances of getting cardiovascular disease I think its pretty reasonable to really think about how much food you need to consume. If you plan on creating meals that will give each family member the appropriate serving size this holiday season versus what we usually consume then there should be a surplus amount of food American families can donate to the nearest shelter!!
This is my first Thanksgiving cooking on my own and I proudly declare that I will make sure to take note of the serving size I need for the me and my guest this Thanksgiving. Hopefully this will make a difference in the amount of money I’m spending on food, thus allowing me to give a little extra this holiday season!!
I urge you to do the same, if you aren’t sure what counts a a single serving size then don’t hesitate to check out MyPyramid.gov!! They have great tips!! I love you all, have a great holiday season!!

Supplements!! Who needs them!
So in all my nutrition classes (the whopping two that i’ve completed) all my professor have stressed is the fact that nutrients are better if they are found in your food versus coming in a small pill that you consume daily.
My question is then why is the supplement market doing so well?? Come on people f you are reading this post right now that means you obviously have access to the world wide web. There are tons of websites that will give you an endless list informing you of healthy foods you can consume to get certain vitamins and nutirents that you needs. Some foods actually contain more than one of the nutrients that you can find by swallowing a supplemental pill each morning.
Of course, I;m bot refering to those of us who are have prescriptions for certain supplements like iron, but for those of us who aren’t. Why not consume the foods you need!! More often than not eating those types of foods that have necessary vitamins and nutrients that we need everyday will only help to make our everyday diet better. And while we are on that note, please don’t be those types of people who take all these supplements and stop by the McDonald’s drive thru religiously!!
OSo as i step down from my rave session, I hope I’ve bee able to make something very very clear!! If you haven’t got it by now I’ll help you out….QUIT TAKING SUPPLEMENTS THAT YOU CAN EASLIY GET FROM ADDING HEALHTY ADDITIONS TO YOUR DIET!
Thanks for reading!!
