Eat to Live or Live to Eat

Sorry for such a clique-ish title but seriously, this needs to be addressed the upcoming Holiday season!
So the food banks are near empty in the Phoenix area, and with the “economic crisis” still large at hand I find it a prime opportunity to talk about overeating this Holiday season. This season let’s take the time to appreciate how someone somewhere in history decided to create serving sizes to help us control the amount of food we intake on a daily basis. Don’t get me wrong, I love my family’s Thanksgiving home cooked meals, but when i think about families without this year, and the chances of getting cardiovascular disease I think its pretty reasonable to really think about how much food you need to consume. If you plan on creating meals that will give each family member the appropriate serving size this holiday season versus what we usually consume then there should be a surplus amount of food American families can donate to the nearest shelter!!
This is my first Thanksgiving cooking on my own and I proudly declare that I will make sure to take note of the serving size I need for the me and my guest this Thanksgiving. Hopefully this will make a difference in the amount of money I’m spending on food, thus allowing me to give a little extra this holiday season!!
I urge you to do the same, if you aren’t sure what counts a a single serving size then don’t hesitate to check out MyPyramid.gov!! They have great tips!! I love you all, have a great holiday season!!
-yeah i said it!!
